Capture traffic between two external devices, using a serial port

Question

Two devices, a and b, talk to each other with a serial port. I want to log the data. So my plan is to have a PC with 2 com ports, one connected to a the other to b, and have data logging software "patch" both com ports together, so whenever data comes in on port #1, it goes out port #2, and vice-versa. That way devices a and b will continue to talk together and function, and I can capture the data to see that it's correct.

Program does not recognize modules

Problem

Program does not recognize modules. I've installed several times with no success.

Solution

Possible reasons:

  1. You've purchased the Lite or Standard version. These versions doesn't support plugins.
  2. You are using different versions of the main program and plugins. In this case, the program will display an warning message in the combo box in the main window.

How can I move all program settings?

Question

For your software, is there an INI or CFG file where all the installation settings are saved so that if I need to install another licensed copy on a different PC I could then simply copy this file? Or do I have to duplicate all custom settings manually, one at a time?

Com Port can't be opened. Port already opened?

I have installed your logger on a machine attached physically to a serial device. However, when I try to create a device, I receive an error that my port cannot be opened.

Can I buy your product on a CD?

In spite of the fact we distribute our software via Internet and deliver it electronically, you sure have an option to order a Backup CD. (Although not from your local CD store yet;) When ordering our product online, you are also offered an option to include a Backup CD to your cart. By default the Backup CD is not included, so you should check the corresponding box if you want a CD. If you don't see the option to add a Backup CD to your cart (it should be item #3 in your cart), then there is no CD available for this product.

How will I receive my invoice?

Sending hex data

Problem

I'm having a problem sending hex data. If I send any digit, it works find. But if I include an alpha character it sends each character as binary.

For example:
0x81 is sent #80 and is sent okay
0xa3 is sent #a3 and is shown as 23 61 33.

Solution

Please, type the characters in upper case #A3 not #a3.

Upgrading or updating software

Question

I currently have a registered version of the software running version 2.1 and want to upgrade to the latest 2.7. Is there an upgrade package available or do I need to uninstall/reinstall using the same serial key?
